Purpose
The Global Innovation Challenge @ William and Mary (WMGIC) is a “hack-a-thon” style International & Sustainable Development Case Competition hosted by students, for students. Based in international and sustainable development, our competition emphasizes the ways that interdisciplinary teams can come together to solve some of the world’s greatest development issues.
Interdisciplinary Diversity
By creating a competition that focuses on the larger concept of international and sustainable development, WMGIC strives to create a place for open collaboration and discussion surrounding the idea of development. With competition streams in open data and technology, social entrepreneurship and business, and governance and policy, WMGIC brings together students from all backgrounds to tackle a specific global issue focusing on creating sustainable and scalable solutions.
Network
Not only does WMGIC provide an opportunity for students to showcase their problem solving capabilities in an area of interest to them, but we hope to provide students the opportunity to meet with, discuss, and network with both young alums & industry professionals of diverse backgrounds. Judges and mentors will meet teams of students hoping to learn more about the professional world.
