Judging Criteria

Judging Criteria

Cases will be judged by the following rubric…

  1. Sustainability: Does the project take into account environmental considerations? Will it support the long-term ecological balance? Will it exacerbate current conditions?
  2. Analytics: Does the project have performance metrics and evaluation incorporated into its plan? Does the model have the potential for future growth? Is the project functional over a long-term implementation period?
  3. Fiscal Pragmatism: What is the cost-benefit analysis of the project? Does it responsibly make use of funding? Will projections show its economic viability?
  4. Ethics: Are solutions consciously designed to understand local contexts? Are there efforts made to promote inclusivity and collaboration with area partners? Will there be accountable oversight of the projects and by whom?
  5. Creativity: Do solutions show strategic thinking that utilize local resources in inventive ways? To what extent is the solution differentiated from traditional approaches? What are the unique technologies that drive this approach?
  6. Logistics: Does the plan follow the rules and regulations of the competition (i.e. budget, scope, within-stream)?

Judging Information:
This rubric will be used during the first and final rounds of judging. After deliberation, a winner from judging panel will be selected to compete in the final round against the winners of the other two categories. The final round will consist of 3 minute pitch in front of the larger conference audience.
