Why Join WMGIC?
Leadership
As a member of the WMGIC team, you will play a vital role and be given a lot of responsibility in helping plan a case competition that draws in 100+ students and guests annually. You will learn effective communication and management skills that will make you a valuable asset to any employer.
Experience
Through serving on the WMGIC team, you will gain skills in event planning and management and outreach to students and sponsors. Team members learn to manage the $10,000+ budget of WMGIC each year and find new sources of capital. Members learn more about the field of international development and through writing the case booklet, they research in-depth and learn to summarize efficiently, but effectively the issues relevant to the chosen topic for the competition.
Network
Members of the WMGIC team have expanded access to the faculty and staff across campus and the network of judges and mentors that participate in the competition, representing organizations such as the State Department, World Bank, and USAID. Team members serve as student ambassadors and are paired with judges and mentors that match their interests, allowing them to spend time to form interpersonal relationships with leaders in the field. Additionally, WMGIC has a strong alumni network that can serve as a resource to you.
Fellowship
WMGIC executive board members develop close friendships with one another. We support each other in academic, professional, and personal endeavors.

WMGIC Alumni Testimonials
WMGIC’s adaptability since it’s start speaks to what I learned as External Relations Director, and what I believe W&M students will continue learning. The amazing network of professors, judges, mentors & faculty working behind the scenes make WMGIC incredibly unique. - Shivani Gupta '19 (WMGIC III External Relations Director) |
